Carol Pereira's husband, Helder, impacted so many lives it felt wrong to have lost someone who had such a positive influence on so many people. She was encouraged to share his story in hopes of inspiring others, as well as her experience, navigating through the healthcare system, in search of the best treatment.  Mrs. Pereira also knew, as Helder's advocate, it was important to share her experience with getting approval for the aid-in-dying medication, knowing there are others who are interested in California's End of Life Option bill.

As a mother of four recreational soccer players, Mrs. Pereira has been active in her community, most noticeable served on the Board of Directors for American Youth Soccer Organization for several years. She is a native Californian and lives in the foothills of Angeles Crest Forest.
